Celebrity Howard Hughes arrived in Las Vegas in the 1960’s and started buying real estate. Many thought he was crazy when he purchased thousands of acres of raw desert land on the west side of Las Vegas. They were wrong, he was a genius. That raw desert land is now home to over 100,000 residents and is renowned as one of the greatest Master Planned Communities in the United States. We call it Summerlin.
Located along the glorious Red Rock Canyon, Summerlin real estate is comprised of 22,500 acres of which 9,000 acres is yet to be developed. With hundreds of neighborhoods and thousands upon thousands of delighted residents, one would think that the community would be tying up loose ends and riding the waves of completion, but there is still more vision left to be fulfilled.

Summerlin Hospital Medical Center has been natural compliment to the community. The hospital completed a 100 million dollar expansion and had a grand opening at the end of 2009. The addition of a new patient tower added 454 rooms. Other areas were expanded and got face lift, new technological equipment was brought in, the ER now has additional space and they added a 3-story parking garage. The master planners will continue to wow the city as they’ve only done a portion of what they intend for Summerlin real estate.

The Summerlin Centre, also known as the urban core of Summerlin, lodges some of the best retail shops and restaurants in the Las Vegas valley, including the infamous Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa. Again, more developments are just ahead with a Career and Technical Academy opening in 2010 as well as plans for The Shops at Summerlin Centre and yet another public elementary school.
